This is my final project for my Graphic Design class art 235. We were asked to create a book cover by choosing a mundane household object and taking professional photographs of it in a creative or abstract way. I chose a plastic slinky and took around 70 pictures of it from many different angles and positions. I changed the lighting and backdrop as well to gather a lot of different variations of the object. We were required to chose the object and take pictures of it before thinking of a book title it would go with. This made it a little difficult to decide what type of object to use as we had no context to guide us.

Here are the final variants I worked on before picking the final version. I tried black and white versions to make it look more like it was from the old style sci-fi novels. I ended up liking the color version better as well as the large text that followed the curve of the wormhole.

The work involved in this project was mainly about thinking of a good object to take pictures of. Then in taking very good photos of that item with great lighting and backdrop. The easy part was finding a great font that fits the image and editing it so it makes a great book cover.

This project was a lot of fun when it all came together and the end result looks like a very professional and great looking book cover.
